Cold air, sharp inside my lungs
Like coming back to life.
Can I count myself among the keepers of the light?
I begged questions of the gods
With sacred fire in my mouth,
And in no uncertain terms
They said prepare yourself.

I have awoken, so this is no surprise,
The far horizon will bring a sweet demise.

Tear out my eyes so I can see without seeing,
I'm still a novice to the art of believing.
Cut out my heart so I can know without knowing,
I hold the world in my hands, and time is slowing.

With a word I shape reality,
My hands embrace the world unseen.
But still the greatest mystery
Is the empty spaces in between.
